God Wants to Direct Our Paths

Stairs leading to heavenSo—what are your plans for today? Whatever they are, they will go much better if you start your day with God. Prayer is the means by which we invite Him to be a part of our day.

I am not talking about prayer as merely a religious exercise. Rather, I am talking about inviting God to be a key part of our daily plans and expecting Him to oblige. The Bible says, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6).

Acknowledging God involves more than simply telling Him our intentions and assuming He’s on board. He will hear us only when we pray to Him in a way that’s consistent with His Word. That means we sometimes have to make adjustments to our plans so our requests are consistent with His will as revealed in the Scriptures. The Bible promises that when we acknowledge God this way, He will direct our paths.

God has many ways to direct our paths. Most of the time, we are not capable of perceiving that divine process. That brings us to the subject of faith. We will embrace this promise from the Word of God only if we believe He will do what He promises—direct our paths. We may not see His hand at work, but we will be confident that it is. Everything will go better in our life if we allow God to direct our paths.
