Jesus likens the Kingdom of God to a man who went about sowing seed into the ground. “Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how,” Jesus said (Mark 4:27, NIV).
Bear in mind that Jesus was sharing a Kingdom principle. Whenever we hear the Word of God being preached and taught, it is like a seed being sown in our heart. We may not sense anything happening as a result of hearing the Word of God. But something is happening. The Word of God is working on the inside of us to change our life.
If you plant some seeds, you may not see anything come above the ground for weeks. Then Jesus says, the seed springs and grows up, though you don’t know how. The truth is that before the seed sprung up, significant things were happening below the surface to make growth possible.
The same is true about the ministry of the Word. We should never regard it as a waste of time for us to visit the house of God and to hear His Word. It has amazing power to change our life. For a while, we may sleep and rise day after day with no perceptible change. But in its proper time, the Word will bear its life-changing fruit in our life.
